SWAP...

I know of a Fall Preppy swap going on in case you are interested. It sounds like fun. Yesterday when I looked there were 40 preppy bloggers already signed up. Today there are 98 comments on her blog.
Check it out over at Monograms and Manicures

Let me know if you sign up. You have until 5pm on Monday, August 3rd.

What's been going on?

Seems like I went a while without posting so this is just to fill in the blanks...

Our sweet boy is potty trained! I feel like I did nothing. It just happenend. How about that. Seriously...per his teachers request he started wearing pull-ups when he turned two. He would potty several times over the months in all the different positions and places. We had a school change or two but the process remained the same. Then in the Spring I guess we started asking him more regularly if he needed to potty. We started seeing a pattern to his behavior of tucking away to hide and poop alone. A few times we were successful to get him on the potty to poop. He did great on our beach vacation and in June he just started staying dry. And he would tee-teeing when we took him. When we went to the Braves in June and we did not even go to the bathroom to avoid the hassel and he was still dry when we left. I declared potty trained! Big Boy underwear ever since and he poops nightly on the potty like a grown man, asking me to "give him a minute". What luck!

My hubby found a new job and he is a new man. (He hates me sharing info about him. He is a private person.) That is beside the point. I think his potenial is huge with this new opportunity. I continue to hope and pray that the other folks out there needing a job find one soon. Now if he can just get a paycheck we will be even better. LOL!

Our Neighborhood had a old fashion Field Day at the local park last weekend and it was a blast. Just like you would imagine... Egg Race, Egg Toss, Water Ballooon Toss, Three Legged Race and Tug of War. It was so much fun. We can't wait until next year.

I think that is a good update for now.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

A Nice Thought

I hope you have enjoyed the month of July. It is almost over.
I wanted to share a nice thought..
Yesterday we had a Baby Shower in honor of the youngest of my generation in the RT Gang. What is the RT Gang? It is the street I grew up on. The Gang is made up of four families that have more in common then you would believe. Just to name one thing... all the families had three kids each. We lived in four houses right in row and growing up, we spent our days running from one house to another. Looking back, it was a blast and something I could only hope for our son to experience.
Anyway so today in the year 2009, we have all graduated from college, all but two are married, new babies are on the way, etc. I could go on and on but it would bore you.
So the baby shower yesterday was held at The Strobles. And G (the mom of the Stroble clan) had been through old pictures recently and had all of the pictures from the RT Gang through the years sitting around for us to review. It was hilarious! Pictures of us as kids at Christmas, in the snow, at birthday parties, weddings, and more recent gatherings as we have grown up and moved away but get back together for occasions(weddings, births, graduations). So as I am looking at the pictures, MeMaw (91 year old grandparent to us all) asked me if I knew who everyone was in the pictures. And my response was "I sure do. I have known them all my life and all of their lives too." How about that! I just found that to be truly AWESOME!
Two more things I found neat about these pictures.... 1)some of the pictures were so old that the Dad-to-Be that we honored yesterday was not even in a few of group shots because he was not born yet (23 years ago). and 2) I saw a picture of my youngest brother when he was maybe 3 and had to point out to my mom how much my son and he resembled.
Family and Friends are great. And I am a Happy Sap for both!!

The Holiday Weekend

So Saturday morning we will be up at the crack of dawn to "participate" in the Peachtree Road Race. I had a deal with myself that if I was not on my way to being a "mom of more than one", then I would be ready for the Peachtree. Well I am neither. Regardless, I am going from start to finish down Peachtree, but it will be my least prepared race yet. Oh well, I will dwell no more.
We do have two family cook-outs planned for the weekend and that is something I am looking forward to. I am in need of some quality family time, when we are all together to let the kids run around and play and be kids.
Here's wishing you a Happy 4th of July weekend!
